Cat Videos

Oh, how I love my kitties! I made these three video clips with my Canon Powershot S30.

Tiziano the Tabby Cat Watching the Simpsons
Yes, my boys have taste. Here Tiziano is enjoying a wonder episode of The Simpsons.

Blissfully Petting my Tabby Cat
Tiziano was really starting to beg for attention. What's psycho cat lover supposed to do but give him all the love he deserves.

Tabby Cats Want to Go Out on the Porch
My apartment doesn't have a cat door. So when Torre wants out on the porch, he demands to be placated.

The Dubliner Tabby Cats in the Studio

Another great studio session last night with The Dubliners Tabby Cats, aka my kitties and me.

Last night, my Austin recording producer, Ari Koinuma, returned for another great recording session. We went in and recorded autoharp tracks for most of the rest of the songs including: Catnipping Green, Lord of the Pounce, Cat Came Back... Cat's Perspective, I'll Tell My Cat, The Mining Ship the Red Dwarf, Harry Potter and The Rising of the Moon.

Super productive evening. Even my cats were involved. Okay, not in a good way. hehe. Tiziano was trying to nibble the headphone chords, and Torre was jumping up and down off the scratching post, but what can you do.

In other cool news, I posted a message about my new single to Folk Radio DJ website, and got numerous requests for the single. I was even contacted by Cat Galaxy, a radio station for cats and cat lovers. Getting better and better!

Free Cat CD to Give to Your Friends

When Kitty Eyes Are Smiling (and other Celtic Cat Songs) is a new CD of cat songs. I created it to promote my upcoming CD Irish Drinking Songs for Cat Lovers, due out in October 2005.

To promote the CD, I recorded three fun cat songs: "Wild Kitty", "When Kitty Eyes Are Smiling", and "Furagone's Wake". All three are available for free through the link above. Download them and burn them to a CD. I also give you a free license to make as many copies as you like to give away to your family and friends. All I ask is you add include the name of the final project, "Irish Drinking Songs for Cat Lovers" or the URL "www.catdrinkingsongs.com" to the CD.

If you would rather have purchase a CD, duplicate it, and give it to your friends, I won't complain.

Thanks a million for all your support

New Cat Podcast

Thanks for all the suggestions I think for "The Mining Ship the Red Dwarf". I think I'm gonna follow those and record the song.

FYI. If you want the more risque version, order a copy of When Kitty Eyes Are Smiling. I uploaded a bonus MP3 which was gonna be the version I was gonna use until I signed Ari as the producer of my CD.

Now, I don't know I'll have time for this, but I'm thinking about doing a monthly Cat Podcast as another way to promote the CD. The podcast would include:

~ Cat news
~ Poetry
~ Stories
~ A cat song
~ Cat health, and
~ Cat Humor

I'd like to get some submissions from some of you. If you could write one of those things up, I'd read it in the pocast. Let me know if'n you're interested. You can submit ideas on the Cat Drinking Songs website. Mreow!

Cat CD Recording Begins Again

Yesterday, I started recording the rest of the Cat CD. I layed autoharp tracks for Black Kitty Paw, Black Is the Colour (of My Cat's Fur), and The Demented Cat Game.

Now I'm attempting to to find out what the last couple songs will be on the CD. If you'd like to help determine them, please vote for your favorite cat songs.

Some of the songs that I are solid choices: Lord of the Pounce, Black Kitty Paws, Cat Came Back... Cat's Perspective, Catnipping Green, A Cat Named Rover, I'll Tell My Cat, The Demented Cat Game.

I gotta say again, I love having Ari Koinuma as my producer and engineer in Austin. Many people don't know what a producer does, and I'll tell you. A producer takes your music and orchestrates something better.

Last night while recording "The Demented Cat Game", I wasn't playing it well. My rhythm was all off. Ari helped guide me to fixing the problem and the performance came off great!

Not all engineers are producers, but Ari is a fantastic producer and engineer. It's like having a orchestral conductor for a simple folk song. He rocks!

Austin Cat Fanciers Annual Championship and Household Pet Cat Show

Dog shows are so 2000; it's all about the felines nowadays. We'll wager that this is going to be a cat-loving good time, packed to the rafters with mobs of women in lacy pink cat sweatshirts, betting on their favorite wrinkly Hairless Sphynx. Not to be missed! Apr. 23, Apr. 24, 9am-5pm. Travis County Expo Center, 9100 Decker Lake Rd.. $5 ($4, seniors, teens; $12, families; $3, kids aged 6-12; free, kids younger than 6).

Find out more at the Austin Cat Fanciers website.

ADDED: SWEET! One of my supervisors volunteers with Austin Siamese Rescue. She's offered to sell the CDs at their booth. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the organization.

Noisy Cat at Night?

Are you suffering from a noisy cat at night? Here's some great advice.

"Cats are naturally nocturnal, and will want to party all night. Help your cat keep quiet when you want to sleep by having a lively, interactive play session right before you go to bed."

Cat Songs Review: "When Kitty Eyes are Smiling (and other Celtic Cat Songs)"

I recently received a preview copy of Marc Gunn's "When Kitty Eyes are Smiling (and other Celtic Cat Songs)," a single that contains three songs (Furragone's Wake, When Kitty Eyes are Smiling, and Wild Kitty) that are a preview of his upcoming release of "Irish Drinking Songs for Cat Lovers." This is an absolutely brilliant single and a great advertisement for the CD. The three songs are standard Irish drinking songs (who doesn't know Finnegan's Wake, When Irish Eyes are Smiling, and Wild Rover?) rewritten to be about cats...complete with meows, hissing, and a set of brilliantly funny lyrics.

Of course, it also contains Marc's fantastic voice, touched with a bit of laughter that's readily heard, as well as some wonderful guest meow-ers...erm...performers. Simply put, these songs are FUN and no one is more aware of that than Marc himself. If you don't find yourself giggling like mad through Wild Kitty, I'd be completely shocked. It's guaranteed to put you in a good mood and cause you to laugh out loud.

For a limited time, "When Kitty Eyes are Smiling" is available for $3.95. The final CD is up for adoption in October 2005!

You can find more information on this single and the upcoming release of Irish Drinking Songs for Cat Lovers on the web at: cat drinking songs .com

Save the Cats - Wisconsin Considers Legalizing Cat Hunting

adopt cat songsMADISON, Wis. (April 12) - Feline lovers holding pictures of cats, clutching stuffed animals and wearing whiskers faced-off against hundreds of hunters at meetings around Wisconsin to voice their opinion on whether to legalize cat hunting.

Residents in 72 counties were asked whether free-roaming cats - including any domestic cat that isn't under the owner's direct control or any cat without a collar - should be listed as an unprotected species. If listed as so, the cats could be hunted.

Don't let this happen!

Cat-ptivating Comments

A few new people made comments about the When Kitty Eyes Are Smiling CD single. Got any? I'd love to read yours!

"Meow Meow Meow Meow! I smell a hit: it's got the distinct overtones of ripe milk and whiskey. (P.S. the hiss made me snort)"
- Zuzu Petals

"I LOVE 'Wild Kitty'! What a fun song!"
- Fae

"I was listening to 'Wild Kitty' from your Irish Cat Drinking Songs CD, and while I was listening, my orange tabby cat Puff jumped up on the table and started rubbing her head on the computer tower and purring. She especially liked the 'meow meow meow meow' in the refrain. So you have my Puff's approval."

Blood and Plasma Donations for Pets

From my friend Stacy:

"This weekend Friday night my mother's 17 year old dog was attacked by another. She had to undergo major surgery & although they still can not say that she will survive they are in amazement that she is still alive & her chances of surviving are FAR better now than when they first saw her. If it was any other 17 year old dog I would not have risked the surgery, but since nothing has ever slowed her down except for a small touch of arthritis we decided to try.

All prayers & good vibes are welcome but my main reason for posting this is that after her surgery Zoe needed plasma. I don't know why but I never thought about animals needing plasma, blood transfusions etc. So Zoe is alive today because some wonderful person did think about it & took their dog to donate blood. So this is just a request for people to not only donate their blood but to see if your pet qualifies to be a blood donor too. Find out more at Safe Animals.com.
